    Website Update

As of Oct 10, the website component of Windows Live OneCare Family safety has been updated. Most of you will not notice any changes, as this is mostly a bug fix release. One important piece of what we shipped includes a web page which will convert your MSN Premium Parental Controls family to Windows Live OneCare Family Safety if that is something you choose to do at this time. Under normal operation this website will help you complete this process in just a few steps, with very little information needed by you (the parent) in order to complete successfully. We're happy to release this update and will continue to improve the quality of the product thanks to your feedback.

I cannot get past the login page.  I click the icon to sign in and an error appears that says the family safety software is unable to connect to the internet from this machine.  Please check your network settings, and confirm that your network cable is plugged in.
I am connected to the internet.

    Team--

I have the same issue as Albert.  The migration page loaded correctly/worked for me to transition one of four children to Windows Family Safety.  Any further attempts to reload the page to transition additional children yields the following error: "
The page you have requested does not exist, has moved, or is temporarily down. "

Note I get the same error if I log into Windows Family Safety and attempt to "Add Child".

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Your team is doing a really nice job. Don't give up this project. Some suggestions:
    1.  Like Messenger, if you can build permissions into Live Mail (formerly Live Mail desktop) then it'll be more effective and truly protecting.
    2.  The vast majority of Windows users (80% at present) run XP which does not have parental controls. Why can't your team produce equivalent parental controls to Vista's for XP users?
    a. Since XP also has Fast User Switching, it should be easy to implement simple time limits and lock out user accounts after specified time limits.
    b. Since XP also has Software Restriction Policies, you can add what programs and games can be executed etc.
    3.  Just for info's sake, can you keep users updated on technical info about ur product? Like how it filters websites etc? Does it use a Winsock LSP filter?

    Hi Albert,

Thanks for trying this out. Can you describe the steps in more detail? Here are the steps we followed and did not see what you're experiencing.

    1) Open a web browser
    2) Ensure NOT signed in to Windows Live (this is indicated by seeing the text "Sign In" on the upper right corner, instead of seeing your name)
    3) Access the migration page http://fss.live.com/Migration
    4) Migration page shows as expected

    Any info helpful. Thanks!

There seems to be a problem when trying to get to the Migration page when you are already signed in; it just loads the FSS home.

Whoa, this is the first minor sign that MSN Premium is still on Microsoft's mind! Thank you SO much; you do not know how good this is.
